TRANSCRIPT

It's Midwinter Fest, darlings. One of my 365 favorite days of the year.

Welcome to Ask the Meadmaker, where I, Ricky the Meadmaker, answer your questions about mead making, mead drinking, mead brewing, and really any question you're willing to send to me.

It is answering those questions that I want to talk about today. Today is the holiest day in the Groennfell Meadery calendar. It is Midwinter Fest. A day of reveling, a day of drinking, a day of reveling drinking, a day of eating and drinking, drinking and eating, and I love it. I love the hundreds of people that come through here 364 days of the year. I do things like this, Ask the Meadmaker. I brew. I can, I can and I can. And I keg and I clean kegs. In some ways it feels like it's all for midwinter fest. I love this day.

But it's because I love all of you. I love standing behind the bar and sharing a drink with strangers. Making mead is easy. If I haven't taught you that by now, you haven't watched enough of these episodes. But I wanted to say that I really, really appreciate your questions. These videos are not monetized. I don't make any money from them. In fact, I really don't make any money of them because the vast majority of you don't live somewhere where you can buy my product.

I write articles. We do our fun facts. We release our recipes for free, though you do have to ask for them. There's an article about asking for the recipes. Anyway, I do these because I appreciate your questions. And that is why I tease you when you send me atrocious ones. A few weeks back, I think I may have teased someone a little harshly. And he may have been a little hurt. His message to me was incomprehensible. I put, and I'm going to use the term, a disproportionate amount of time into these videos.

There are lots of other things I could do. I have lots to do here. I'm also the head chef of Colchester's Mead Hall and I own a bakery and a catering company. And yet, I do these videos, because I care about making more mythmakers in the world. And so, when you send me questions, with atrocious typos, and I do give a pass to foreign language speakers. I'm going to tease you because I hold myself to a very high standard, and I want you to hold me to a high standard, and I will hold you to the same because that is what family does. That is what being a mead maker is all about. It is about being better than you were the last time. So, if I tease you, and it hurts your feelings, I am sorry.

But I will not answer questions that are incomprehensible because so many of you send me such excellent ones. Keep sending them. I'll keep getting to them. Happy midwinter fest. I'll see you in a few weeks. Cheers.
