The Viking Baby Shower was amazing! We couldn’t believe how many of you turned out with hugs, and smiles, and big appetites, and things for our little one. We are, frankly, completely overwhelmed by the love and support of our community.
I have one more favor to ask. It’s a big favor.
We have always been honest with you, and here’s the deal:
We’re a very small staff, and when Kelly and I go on parental leave, things are going to be really tight.
Our staff came together to figure out a way that we can take four full weeks off to be with our baby, and it was the single sweetest gift Kelly and I have ever received.
I wanted to give Kelly a special present, and I thought I could do it alone. I can’t.
I wanted Kelly to be able to be with her baby without worrying about the day-to-day reality of being the CEO of a meadery.
This morning, Kelly told me that she was afraid that she was going to be answering e-mails and writing checks between contractions. It broke my heart.
All I wanted was for her to be able to take advantage of our staff’s amazing present.
So, here’s what I’m going to do: Every single day between now and Baby’s birthday, the staff has an amazing deal, surprise, or present for you. We’ll post them on all the normal places (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.); all you need to do is share them and enjoy them.
What I’m trying to say is, help me show Kelly that the Mead Hall will be fine without her for a little while.
